Embarking on a journey to Seoul this June 2023, after waiting for 3 years due to pandemic, our organised dance exchange was a fusion of culture, rhythm, and unforgettable memories. Our dance students took classes and immersed themselves in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, modern, and ballet, embarked on a unique adventure to explore the heart of South Korea’s vibrant dance culture.
From the moment we touched down in Seoul, our experience was a whirlwind of motion and emotion. We kicked off our adventure by delving into the world of jazz, contemporary, lyrical, modern and ballet. Followed on with K-pop, a genre that has taken the world by storm. Participating in a K-pop choreography class allowed us to appreciate the precision and energy that goes into this global phenomenon. We danced to the beats of our favourite K-pop tunes, feeling the rhythm in our souls and learning the intricacies of the K-pop style.
But our journey wasn’t limited to the dance studio. We indulged in some of Seoul’s finest offerings, both culinary and cultural. Korean BBQ became a favourite among the group, where the sizzling grills and delectable meats provided the perfect backdrop for bonding and laughter. Donning traditional Hanbok attire, we immersed ourselves in Korean heritage, capturing countless photos in these exquisite garments, making memories that would last a lifetime.
Exploring the bustling streets of Seoul, we couldn’t resist the temptation of shopping in its vibrant markets. From trendy boutiques to traditional markets, we discovered unique fashion and treasures to take home as souvenirs. The traditional markets, in particular, offered a glimpse into daily life in Seoul and allowed us to experience the local culture through the lens of food, fashion, and crafts.
Amidst all the dance classes, food excursions, and cultural discoveries, what made our trip truly remarkable was the opportunity to understand and connect with Korea’s dance culture. We witnessed the dedication and discipline that Korean dancers pour into their craft, and it inspired us to reach new heights in our own dance journey.
We returned home with a deeper appreciation for dance and a treasure trove of memories that will forever resonate in our hearts. Seoul had welcomed us with open arms, and we had danced our way into its vibrant soul.
